The long break...
Let's be frank...
The current pandemic has been hard on everyone. Regardless of whatever take you have on the policies / politics of the matter, there is a high degree of probability that you have been impacted in one way or another.
We have seen folks come together in support of our Educators, Nurses, Doctors, front line/First Responders and countless others.
What you may not have noticed is the massive shift in how things have been done in the tech world. Lots of techs have had to promptly react to, and develop solutions overnight to alleviate the new working routine. If you work for a large company (or even a small one) there is a good chance you are teleworking. You might have even been able to take your company computer home with you.
But what allows that to happen? Is it just magic? well.. no it's not. This sudden and abrupt change in things has forced IT departments worldwide to adopt to a telework schema. What that entails is setting up VPNs or moving applications to a cloud based solution. Perhaps you are even able to remote into your computer at work! Trust me, for most departments this was not a simple feat to accomplish. It takes a lot to make sure that data is secured and that their staff is (virtually) protected while teleworking.
Ok great but what does that have to do with the "long break"? Simply put, I just haven't had time to update this blog. But with the many joys and advantages of modern technology we have been able to accomplish a lot during this pandemic that really are extraordinarily amazing. That's it for now, if you have a working computer at home that you use for work stuff, maybe send a thank you to your tech team. They are working hard for you to be able to do what you do... As I tell my clients, "it's what I'm here for" to truly make sure that your job can be done for the betterment of everyone.
